The Arc From Landrace to GMP: 40 Years, One Legend

Lessons learned from a historic cannabis industry journey

Arjan Roskam, the cannabis industry pioneer, breeder of Super Lemon Haze, and host of the iconic Strain Hunters series, brings a perspective to the investment and commercialization conversation the industry rarely hears: what actually makes cannabis work. As one of the most decorated cannabis breeders in history, and one of the earliest figures to bridge legacy cultivation with pharmaceutical-grade production, Arjan Roskam draws on four decades of hands-on experience in genetics, cultivation, and regulated market development. This keynote will touch on his early work in European pharmaceutical cannabis, his ongoing development of five proprietary medical cultivars for European and Australian markets, and a lifetime of understanding what consumers and patients actually need. Talman Berlin is proud to bring this masterclass presentation that will examine why legacy genetics are becoming the most valuable asset in pharmaceutical cannabis, what EU-GMP supply chain development actually looks like, and the real opportunity at the intersection of legacy expertise and regulated markets.

Arjan Roskam

Founder of Green House Coffeeshops and Green House Seed Company

Arjan Roskam is a pioneer of modern cannabis genetics and one of the most influential figures in the global cannabis industry, with over 40 years of experience spanning cultivation, genetics, pharmaceuticals, and international market development.

Widely known as “The King of Cannabis,” Arjan is the founder of the Green House Coffeeshops in Amsterdam and the breeder behind some of the most iconic cannabis cultivars in history, including White Widow, Super Silver Haze, and Super Lemon Haze. Over the course of his career, he has received more than 200 international cannabis awards, including over 40 High Times Cannabis Cups, an unmatched record in the industry.

His journey began in the 1980s through early strain hunting expeditions across Asia, laying the foundation for what would become one of the world’s most recognized cannabis brands. Since opening the first Green House Coffeeshop in 1992, Arjan has built a global portfolio of cannabis businesses spanning genetics, retail, media, and pharmaceutical development.

Arjan has been actively involved in the evolution of regulated medical cannabis since its earliest stages. He contributed to one of the first government-supported medicinal cannabis cultivation initiatives in the Netherlands and later participated in early GMP pharmaceutical cannabis production through Swissmedic-licensed facilities in Switzerland.

Internationally, he has developed and operated large-scale cultivation projects, including licensed production in Canada through Agripharm in joint venture with Canopy Growth Corporation. He is currently active in Thailand through Green House Thailand and Green House Energrow, where he has been instrumental in establishing EU-GACP and EU-GMP aligned cultivation and processing operations.
As part of this expansion, Arjan played a key role in launching six licensed Green House dispensaries in Thailand, located in Bangkok and Koh Samui, helping shape one of Asia’s first legal cannabis retail markets.

Today, he is focused on building compliant international supply chains for pharmaceutical-grade cannabis. Through partnerships with Lexamed GmbH, Arjan supports the distribution of EU-GMP medicinal cannabis from Thailand into Germany and Poland, while also supplying the Australian market through collaboration with The Australian Cannabis Group.

In recognition of his impact on the global cannabis industry, Arjan was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC) in San Francisco in 2016.

In addition to his commercial activities, Arjan is the co-creator of Strain Hunters, a globally recognized documentary and research platform dedicated to preserving cannabis landrace genetics, and co-founder of GH Medical, an initiative focused on cannabinoid science and medical education.

In 2025, Green House celebrated its 40-year anniversary, marking four decades of continuous innovation, genetic excellence, and leadership in the global cannabis industry.

Arjan remains at the forefront of the international cannabis sector, bridging legacy genetics with modern pharmaceutical standards, and actively shaping the future of regulated cannabis markets worldwide.

A Shifting German Cannabis Landscape

Identifying opportunities in Germany’s evolving industry

Over the course of the last year, Germany’s legal medical cannabis industry has been a major focus for lawmakers and regulators. Cannabis opponents in Germany’s government have sought to reverse the sector’s recent momentum. However, the regulatory status quo has largely remained in place thanks to the hard work of medical cannabis activists and advocates within the coalition government, although some industry changes may still be on the horizon. Panelists will provide updates on the current state of affairs in Germany and what to anticipate for German medical cannabis regulation during the rest of 2026.

The Frontier Market Playbook

A decision framework for the coming repricing of cannabis

Don’t let the zip code fool you. Cannabis sits inside a developed economy, but if you’ve deployed capital in volatile, early-stage markets before, you know exactly what you’re looking at: fragmented infrastructure, short-term operator psychology, trust deficits masquerading as brand risk. This asset class isn’t behaving like a mature industry because it isn’t one, yet. The investors who win the next cycle won’t be the ones who got here first. They’ll be the ones who know which signals to read and when. True Terpenes CEO Daniel Cook and Rachel Wright, CPA/MST, will be joined by a panel of cross-sector experts to explore important filters that separate disciplined allocations from hopeful ones, including infrastructure timing, pricing short-termism, trust as a balance sheet asset, talent evaluation across market phases, and, most critically, how to spot the maturation signal before it’s priced in. This panel discussion will help investors be best positioned when cannabis repricing occurs.

The Missing Link

Pharmacies in the medical cannabis ecosystem

Cannabis companies often focus on cultivation operations and branding. However, primary interfaces are pharmacies and patient care, with pharmacies serving as clinical gatekeepers of the modern cannabis era. Medios AG is a Berlin-based pharmaceutical company that specializes in pharmaceuticals for chronic and rare diseases. The company is a global industry leader and active in the wholesale pharmaceutical trade with an established pharmacy network and GDP-certified logistics expertise. Hannah Bellman and Thorsten Kujath will discuss the role of pharmacies in guiding cannabis therapy, the need for the industry to move from simply selling products to embracing patient care, and how feasible it is for specialty pharma to help integrate cannabis into oncology and neurology treatments.
