Justin brings experience from both the R&D world and the cannabis industry to The Talman Group. He co-founded and served as CEO to ThrivalTech, an energy & emissions control technology company, from 2011-2017. He is listed as co-inventor on 5 patents, and gained invaluable insight as to the challenges of operating a successful R&D venture. In 2017, Justin co-founded Phytonyx, a hemp genetics company that has developed several proprietary CBD varieties. Over the span of six years, Phytonyx generated nearly $20 million in gross revenue and has sold seeds in numerous countries on five different continents.

Tamara Lah Turnšek, Professor of biochemistry and molecular biology, has a long and distinguished career. She served as the Director of the National Institute of Biology in Slovenia for 25 years. Under her leadership the National Institute of Biology was consistently ranked among three most recognized research institutes in Slovenia, and first in biological and environmental sciences. She is currently Head of Science and Research Class of the Slovenian Academy of Engineering, as well as a member of many international associations. She has excelled in the private sector and academia, with extensive experience in biomedical research, and as a Professor of cancer biology, teaching in Europe, the US and Brazil.

Gašper Friškovec is a licensed attorney in Slovenia, and has over a decade of practice in advising clients and their legal representation on economic, regulatory, and political matters before the highest Slovenian and international courts. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ljubljana, where he is also earning his doctorate while specializing in administrative law. His experience has given him a unique perspective on public policy and law within both Slovenia and the EU. Gasper is able to work adeptly within a variety of regulatory frameworks. He brings a pragmatic and disruptive approach to crafting innovative solutions for the complex challenges facing businesses in this emerging industry.

Prior to joining TTG, Jakob held the position of CEO at IPM Tech Hub, which specializes in assisting innovative businesses to successfully enter their target markets. He is skilled at assessing both the needs and core competencies of client companies in order to help design successful business models and GTM strategies. Jakob has a bachelor’s degree in international business and a Masters in International Business and Organization (IMB) from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana. He has been involved in cannabis advocacy dating back to college, as a primary organizer and fundraiser for one of the largest cannabis events in Slovenia which advocates for more rational cannabis policies.
